The benefits to our customers highlighted for offshore use are equally valid for onshore applications. The compressors are used for numerous applications including boosters to higher-pressure units and as a feed to flare stacks.

The picture opposite is for an application where flare gas is recovered, cleaned using scrubbers and recycled for domestic consumption.

Stripping Air Blowers
Stripping Air Blowers use air to purify (strip) sulphur of contaminants. The air is drawn in through an in-line filter, ensuring no particles above 50 microns can enter the compressor. The air is discharged at varying temperatures, dependant on ambient conditions, to the sulphur tank. It is at this stage the air is forced through the sulphur, and in doing so is stripped of unwanted contaminants. The varying flow can be changed by the use of a VSD motor, or in the case of air, a blow-off valve.

Northey's compressors can work at 100% to 50% load and with temperatures up to 50ºC, again demonstrating their versatility and durability. The picture oppositge shows a typical example, including compressor, motor, air blast cooler and water pump.
