Side Channel: SD Range
SD side channel blowers are directly driven by asynchronous squirrel cage motors of the company’s own make. In addition, a range of models without motor is available for external drive by means of a V-belt or other drive elements.
The blowers are fitted with closed deep groove ball bearings with a minimum service life of 12,000 hours. They do not have to be lubricated. The service life of the ball depends on the operating hours, the strain and other influences such as temperature etc. A change of the deep groove ball bearings before the ending of the service life is recommended.
Sealed bearings ensure maintenance-free operation. Silences are mounted on the discharge and intake side as standard thereby reducing the noise level considerably. All blower and motor parts are cast aluminium and therefore highly resistant to corrosion. The ribs on the blower housing provide for good head dissipation, further assisted by the air flow of the motor fan. All blowers are equipped generally with base plate on the silence and with rubber feet for mounting in a vertical or horizontal position.
All side channel blowers can be built so that they are suitable for frequency converter operation (speed adjustable). In this connection, the motors have to be equipped with PTC thermistors and provided with reinforced coil insulation. The speed range may not exceed 50Hz in the 50Hz version and 60Hz in the 60Hz version. The technical data is identical to that of the standard versions. The converter is designed for mounting on the switch cabinet for separate frequency converter operation (type designation FU).
Blowers can also be supplied in bare-shaft version to allow OEMs to design them into their own equipment
